Domain Name Registration
A domain name is your address on the Internet. You can have the standard .com, .net, .org or you may wish to have a country specific address such as .com.au, .net.au or .org.au. New domain classifications such as .biz, .tv and .name are also now available.
We can arrange domain name registration for you (i.e www.yourname.com.au) or you can may choose to have a sub-domain of our site (i.e www.yourname.bigpurplepig.com).
All domain name registrations will be processed through INWW - Melbourne IT.
Domain Name Prices
The current cost for registration is $A69.30 for a .com/net/org name for one year; $A140 for a two year .com.au/net.au/org.au registration.
A sub-domain of BigPurplePig will cost you $A20 per year.
Why have a Domain Name?
The main advantages of having your own domain name include:- an easy to remember web address
- looks more professional than having your site in a subdirectory of your isp
- your website can always be found at that address regardless of whether you change isp's or hosting providers
A Domain Name is not necessary in order to get a website up and running and it depends on the kind of site you want as to whether you feel you need a domain name or not.
